The Caribbean is full of warm weather and sunshine and there is no other place in the world that is as perfect for sailing as here. Visitors can spend time exploring many different islands on their sailing holidays Caribbean adventure. While there are too many islands to count in the Caribbean, a few stand out more than the others.
The Bahamas are only a short distance from the United States and with over 700 islands, people have many unique experiences waiting for them. People who sail here can see more of the Bahamas than anyone else ever would, because some of the best views can only be seen from the water. On Balmoral Island, visitors can swim in the water with the dolphins before spending the afternoon on the white sandy beach. In Nassau, everyone can enter the numerous jewelry stores while walking along the streets. There is also a straw market where anyone can pick up some interesting souvenirs. Spending a day at Atlantis can be fun and exciting, but there is nothing better at the end of a long day then going back to the boat for some quiet time on the water.
The British Virgin Islands are almost always called the sailing capital of the world, because it is very simple to sail from island to island within a short amount of time. The largest island is Tortola and many people like to visit Virgin Gorda, Anegada and Jost Van Dyke as well. Approximately fifteen of the islands are inhabited, but that shouldn’t stop a person who is sailing in the area from stopping to see the beautiful sights. Plus, there are over one hundred bars that you can pull your boat up to and dock while you enjoy a drink or two throughout this stretch of islands.
Falmouth Harbour is the place for boats while sailing in Antigua. There is no bad time to sail near Antigua, especially since the coast along English Harbour is protected if a storm does roll through the area. While the area is filled with boats throughout the year, people will find that it is even more crowded during Antigua Sailing Week at the end of April every year. This regatta began in 1967 and thousands of people have shown up to participate and watch ever since.
